Yes. Every engagement party I have been to people brought gifts. In fact, at one they were tacky enough to open them in front of everyone. Any time you go to a party you should bring something, even if it’s just a backyard barbecue and you bring a bottle of wine. For an engagement you would of course bring something. $30 or more is fine. Take a card with a gift card in it and keep it in your purse. If other bring gifts then pull it out, if they don’t then just keep it.
