Is it customary for the parents of the bride to buy the happy couple a wedding gift? I?

My mother is not paying for any of my wedding and I *still* wouldn’t be hurt if she didn’t buy us a gift. She is already taking all my stressed out phone calls, purchasing her dress for the ceremony and helping me coordinate my guest list. My gift is that she will be there. If you are already putting in money, I would do a nice card with a thoughtful message or offer a service like helping with thank-you notes.
