I’ve never heard about such a custom. But I do think giving a gift to the new mother to celebrate the starting of our family will be a fantastic idea! Besides, there are no strict rules about what kinds of gift to buy. It all depends on the exact situation. For a new mother, I think the best gift should be : 1. The tender care and support to your partner during her pregnancy, since it is really a hard time for her. 2. Decorate a new room for the new born baby with your heart, not telling your partner, and give her a big surprise after she gives birth to a baby. She must be very touched at that moment! Good luck!
