I don’t know – it probably depends on your point of view. I’m not a Christian, really, but I got exposed to a lot of them in college – mostly in a good way. And I quote scripture online sometimes, mostly to support moral values that I happen to agree with. But I also quote it because I think it’s had an important influence on Western civilization, both in good ways and in bad ones. I’m sorry if it freaks out you and your friends. But I wonder – your friends who are Christians, why does it freak them out? I guess I sometimes quote scripture — scripture whose moral values I agree with — hoping to influence people who call themselves Christians, but who aren’t acting in what I think are very nice ways. I think some Bible verses make a powerful argument for tolerance, for compassion towards your fellow humans and against self-righteousness.
