Is it completely safe to feed any dog breed completely raw meat and tap water?
Dogs are carnivores – they love and thrive on raw meat. But they also require essentials found in fruits and veggies – wild dogs would get this from eating rabbits or other animals that eat the fruits, nuts and veggies as their diet. Do a search on feeding raw to your animals before you start … store bought meat isn’t good as it contains growth hormones and steroids given to boost growth for human consumption – NOT good for dogs (or cats either). You need to find a meat market or natural pet food store that carries the right type. Also, make sure you know what vitamins and minerals your dog requires as well. Innova EVO and Nature’s Variety Instinct are excellent sources of “raw” kibble for those who prefer not to use actual raw meats. Grain free kibble is the next best thing to a raw diet.
