Is it common for babies to be lactose intolerant?

It is not common for babies to be lactose intolerant. It’s more likely that your son was sensitive to cow proteins in your diet. Most babies outgrow this and moms are able to add dairy back into their diets. I would try again in a couple months, about 3 months of age, as babies of that age are generally able to process milk changes more easily. For instance, my sons were sensitive to caffeine, even chocolate, I couldn’t even have a square of chocolate! After about 2-3 months I could have chocolate and caffeine again. Again, most kids outgrow it. Best of luck!
