Is it cheaper to fix a water pump (for a house) or just get a new one?”

Its a lot cheaper to replace an impeller than to replace the pump. If the pump runs, its motor is probably ok. The only other moving part is the impeller. If the impeller melted, its because there was no water to cool it. And no water to pump. Or the pump is plugged with sand or something else. I’m assuming you have a jet pump. Wait. You said the propeller in the motor. If the cooling fan on the motor melted, the motor is probably shot. Take the pump to a well supply shop to determine whether it is better to repair or replace. Sorry. There is getting to be too many questions here. Better get someone who can diagnose the situation.

then I would think that it would be subject to the availability of a new propeller (or impeller, as I was taught to call it when its in a pump) it might be cheaper to replace the part, but it might be necessary to replace the pump, if time is an issue.
