If a British citizen lands a job in Dubai and negotiate a good salary package, then yes, living in Dubai is cheaper than in England. Most Westerners negotiate a salary package incl. basic salary + housing (paid rent), transportation, etc. Salary is tax free and also health care is provided by the sponsoring company. In Dubai it is possible to live on little money because all basic groceries (bread, milk, rice, local veggies, etc. are very cheap). Some Indians living in the UAE making Dhs 1.000 (housing provided) and stil send money back home. It all depends on your lifestyle and what kind of salary package you negotiate. Take care.
