A. Yes. SCXI is a proprietary standard developed by NI, only a few niche products are available from third party vendors. SCXI limits customer choice of switching modules and forces the customer to use an additional chassis type in PXI systems. The variety and density of switches available in PXI is much higher than SCXI (or for that matter VXI) and they offer more cost effective solutions.
