Personally, I don’t like either. Use hardwood plywood, such as oak, cherry, maple, or birch, for the carcass, and solid wood (same species) for the face frames. For the doors, it depends on the style. If you are making your own raised panel doors, use all solid hardwood. If you are making recessed panel, use solid hardwood for the frame and hardwood plywood for the panel. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions. Hope this helps. EDIT: Laminate and veneer are not the same thing. Laminate is made of high pressure plastic, veneer is made of wood. Laminate is available with wood print, but it is not wood.
