Is it better to sleep a new born baby in a cot or a bassinet?
Well, SIDS risks are lower for babies who sleep in their parent’s room in their own crib/cot or bassinet. So really, he should be sleeping in your room. I know what it’s like to not have much room, between our bed, the crib, and the wall, there is maybe enough room to walk sideways in my room right now, but it’s only for 6 months and it brings the dangers down. Plus, it’s a lot easier to feed them in the night (breast or formula) when they’re right there and there’s no stumbling to their room. As far as changing him goes, you will use the changing table sometimes, but other times it’s easier just to lay them on the floor, on your bed, etc, and change them there. I know in the middle of the night when he wakes me up I like to get his bottle, sit down on the bed, feed him, then change him, then lay him back in his bassinet right by my bed, hardly carrying him around at all.
