I am under the impression that less energy is expended with air conditioners if the system doesn’t have to work as hard, that is the temperature doesn’t fluctuate. So leaving it on, or having timers set for the system would be best. Such as have it come on an hour or so before you turn home, so you don’t have to blast it when you get home, the room has steadily cooled over the last hour etc etc. Also the temperature the air conditioner is set to is important. A temperature of 23 degrees celius is suppose to be the ideal temperature (increasing the temperature by a degree consumes considerable more energy). So set the temp at a standard temp and let the air con unit work slowly to keep the temp constant.
