Is it better to join the Royal Marines as a normal commando or an officer?

Being an officer in the military is of course a better life, and it is considered the better option nowadays. However, joining the ranks is also an option, I joined the ranks before I tried for a commission, and the experience i got as a NCO gave me a good background to be a good officer. The Royal Marines is very tough to get into, and you really have to be going some to get in as an officer, I know guys who left school at 16 and went in an a ranker, and I also know guys who went through UNI and joined as an officer. Training to be an officer in the marines is harder than training to be a commando. You have to do everything your men can do, and better. I have been on various courses with them and my father in his army days, on a staff job produced a report on the Marines about how they conduct their training for officers. It is hard. I was nearly bleeding from the eyes on my courses, all very good fun. Id say go to the Navy recruiter and talk about it with them, then go from there. Bu
