Is it better to drive or take a train from New Haven, CT to Washington DC?
It also depends on how many of you are travelling on this trip. It is a long drive and a long train trip. If you need to use the time to work or prepare for a meeting, I suggest taking the train. It is quite conducive to working. If you are a family with several passengers, the car trip will probably be less expensive–assuming it is not going to be sitting in an expensive garage in Washington for several days. I always like the flexibility of a car. You can get around the city and visit places outside the city without difficulty. But, when visiting a big city, it can also be a big liability. If you are taking the train, you have 2 major choices: • Take Metro-North into Grand Central Station in NYC and transfer crosstown to Penn Station from where you catch Amtrak to Washington; or, • Catch the Amtrak from Meriden, CT or someplace more convenient to you and potentially stay on the train all the way to Washington. I generally prefer the Acela/Metroliners to the local trains. But, they a
