Is it better to drive back to Reno out of Lake Tahoe?

If the weather isn’t super bad, then the highway 50 ride out of Taho is pretty nice and very scenic. The only “bad” part is that first leg up the mountain as you come out of the valley. Even that’s not so bad if you take your time. At the speed limit, the climb is less than fifteen to twenty minutes. After that, an easy stretch to the summit and then it’s all an easy, gentle downhill to Sacramento. I actually recommend it because it saves you a LOT of time. If you are coming from the Bay Area, the drive to Taho is about an hour LESS than the drive to Reno. So, if you plan to drive BACK to Reno, and then West to Sacramento, you’d actually be ADDING another half hour to forty five minutes for that part, PLUS the additional time it takes to get to Sacramento from Reno. It does not make sense to do that, UNLESS highway 50 is closed due to weather conditions.
