Is it better to drink distilled water instead of bottled or tap?
Distilled water is the vapor of water condensed. That is to say, they boil the water, then capture the steam and cool it back into liquid. It has none of the trace minerals that ordinary water does. It’s not really any better or any worse than bottled water unless you like the taste better. It’s meant to be used in irons, etc. where the trace minerals of ordinary tap water can accumulate and clog the steam pores of the iron. It doesn’t have enough calcium or other nutrient to make a real difference in your diet. Supplying distilled water to third world countries would be like using a cannon to kill a mosquito. We could supply most with filters and make a huge improvement in the quality of their water. Their problems are not with trace minerals, it’s with larvae of strange third-world bugs and such.
I don’t think it would be good to drink distilled water unless your tap water is contaminated. Tap water is contains fluorine, which prevents cavities in our teeth. Distilling it would remove the fluorine. As people are drinking more and more bottled water, which doesn’t have fluorine in it, cavities and other dental problems are increasing. Distilled water would be essentially free of minerals, so it would have no health benefits besides just hydrating you.
Steamed and distilled water is the best water to drink because all of the toxins have been removed from it. A lot of times bottled water is no different than tap, and tap water is full of harsh things that your body shouldn’t be consuming. If your water comes from a well, it most likely contains prescription drugs that have been consumed by another person, flushed down their toilet, and leaked into the freshwater supply surrounding your well and you’re drinking it. It happens everyday… Disgusting, yes, but also true. I think supplying 3rd world countries with distilled water is a great idea. They need clean water just the same as the rest of us.
