Is it better to breed mares with frozen semen using deep horn insemination?
When using a standard dose of frozen-thawed semen that contains 800 million sperm, there is no need for deep-horn insemination. Placing the semen in the uterine body will provide equal fertility to that of placing sperm deep into the uterus. However, when one lowers the dose of frozen semen used, particularly lower than 100 million, then deep-horn insemination would be the method of choice.
