Money isn’t as confusing as you imagine, firstly I would change most money into Euros, the post office gives the best rates, I would bring some Sterling as some places give you better deals for the pound. Some shops will take euros but be careful as they won’t give you the best rate of exchange; there are plenty of exchange places again be careful as some will take commission out aswell. Ask before you change is the best advice, the rate is always on a board outside. You can change sterling or euros so it really depends what you prefer to carry. Another thing be careful using cards in ATMs, your bank might charge you a fair bit for withdrawing outside the UK, check before you leave.
