Friday January 4, 2008 A group of Czech artists called Ztohoven are up on charges for hacking into a scenic panorama during a TV weather forecast and inserting imagery of a nuclear bomb detonating (watch it on YouTube). The group’s statement says it was done to question whether what we’re presented by the media is actually real. “It drew attention to the possibility of using images of the world created by the media in place of the existing, real world.” The panic it caused is being compared to that created in 1938 by Orson Welles’ War of the Worlds radio broadcast which led listeners to believe Martians were invading.
