Is it appropriate to wear dark dress shorts (about a couple inches above knee) at a funeral parlor?
Dress shorts, even if they’re a dark color, are too casual for a visit to a funeral parlor. A long, full skirt would be just as cool, and much more appropriate. The funeral parlor will certainly be air-conditioned, anyway. It mystifies me why people think that bare skin equals feeling cool. Loose-fitting cotton or linen clothing is a great way to stay cool as well.
