Is It an Old Wives Tale or Actual Medical Fact?
Many health myths are nothing more than old wives tales that have been disproven by science. This doesn’t mean that all old wives tales aren’t true, however. If you aren’t sure about the truth concerning a health tale, make it your business to look for scientific evidence to back up the claim. Also realize that some people just cannot be argued with, regardless of what proof you give them. In this case, it is best not to argue, and instead to smile and do what you know is right. In some cases, it’s just as easy to humor these people. For example, when they tell you not to cut the crust off of the bread, because that’s where all of the vitamins are, just eat the crust to make them happy.
