If it is an ‘open audition’, (meaning first come first seen, between a certain time frame), then it is usually beneficial to be one of the first seen. There are many reasons for this, but mainly after a while, the mediocre seem to blend in. The director(s), take measures to help them remember, they use your resume, head shot, and notes taken during your audition, etc. Those who stand out are those who were really good or really bad, and those who were seen early, while the deciding person(s) were fresh. Remember, many times they are looking for something(s) specific. I’ve known auditions to end early because they’ve found the “look” or “sound”, they were looking for. Conversely, I’ve seen auditions extended because the ‘specifics’ needed had not been found. I’d like to be in the ‘got seen’ end of those auditions.
