Is it acceptable to get reimbursed for gas and mileage for the same trip when traveling on firm business?
Generally companies will reimburse for one or the other but not both. The mileage rate is expected to provide reimbursement for operating a personal vehicle on company business. Some companies offer the employee to determine what option best fits their circumstances. We also recommend that you seek the advice of your tax advisor since they have an understanding of your business practices and can give you any tax consequences if an employee has been getting both reimbursements- mileage and gas.
