Is it absolutely amazing how many Holocaust survivors there are alive today?
At the last census undertaken in this country in 2001 over 7% of the population were over 75 years old. If we take that figure to be still roughly accurate then that puts the number of Britons over 75 as approximately 4.2 million. If we take it as representative of Europe then that gives us 57.75 million over 75. Anyone who is 75 now would have been 10 years old at the end of the Second World War. From a population of nearly 60 million over 75 it would be bloody surprising if quite a few of them had not survived the camps. Many survived the horrors of the camps because they were lucky ( if you call being often the only member of your family to survive lucky) Late arrivals, people who hid, people who made themselves useful to an SS guard. There were thousands who survived. Many were young. Or are you someone doubting the Holocaust and claiming that so many must have survived the “horrors” and this is why so many are available for quotes and TV interviews?
