Is it a sign of a closed mind and weak argument that opposing views should not be heard?

Sometimes, but not always. Myself, I simply do not have the time or requisite tolerance to hear an “opposing view” that not only fails to correctly interpret the topic/matter at hand (and thus, utterly devoid of logical structure), but is immediately obvious to me that the person in question has no intention of at least trying to debate an issue with veriafiable knowledge and sensible chains of reasoning. Such a person will be dismissed on every count, and that in itself eliminates quite a few people in R&S. I simply refuse to legitimize or validate ignorant and stupid people. As for atheists in R&S, it’s a public website, and the 1st Amendment applies to them just as much as it does to the Christians, Muslims, and Jews. Being here is in poor taste on their part, for sure, but they’re nevertheless allowed to be here.

I believe that it is a sign of a weak argument if someone says that an opposing veiw should not be heard. However, I think that it’s the atheists that do this the most. One example would be that in a public place, you can get kicked out for talking to someone about God (I’ve seen this happen), but no one cares if you start talking about evolution. Another example: In most schools (specifically public schools), God is not allowed. During Science class, evolution is taught as fact (instead of what it truly is: theory), and the mention of intelligent design (ID) is not even to be mentioned, even though there are Scientific facts that point towards ID (If you don’t believe me on this, then you can email me and we can talk about it). They never even bother going over the Scientific facts that could point to ID and if anyone tries to question evolution they are thought of as a fool and they aren’t allowed to voice their opinion on it. I think it’s rather stupid for Christians to say that ath

Its not that they dont want to hear opposing views, they dont want to hear rude remarks such as ‘youre an idiot no one believes that **** you stupid *** christianity is bull ****’ Likewise, non Christians dont want to hear stuff like, ‘ you sinner you are going to go to hell you whore, God will get you’ Perhaps if we could all learn to express our different opinions in a respectful manner, more people would be more open to hearing everyone.
