No, course work for the Dual B.F.A./Ed.M. begins in the sophomore or junior year, so regularly matriculated B.F.A. students may join the degree program after freshman year. All B.F.A. students are required to complete an introductory pedagogy course in sophomore year, so if upon entering Rutgers students are not sure about the dual degree, they will have the opportunity to work with the dance education faculty and explore the dual degree option.
