Is it a bad idea to post my fashion sketches on the net?
Yes, it’s a bad idea to post your sketches willy-nilly everywhere. If you do post pictures do so in your own website or blog (wordpress and blogger are a free blog hosts and worth using) and use a graphics program to watermark all your pictures. Watermarking is easy to do with photoshop and there are lots of on line tutorials on watermarking through photoshop. It’s tempting to try and show off and fish for compliments, but it’s not really helpful if you suddenly see something you have designed in a store. You will have no way to prove it was yours and if you have posted in on any public boards or communities then you are really screwed. There’s nothing you can do. There are people who scan these public sketch sites for ideas. And you shouldn’t run out of idea as long as you keep your eyes and mind open to new influences.
