Yes, Sage, Thyme and Rosemary all root well from cuttings. I find that Thyme generally roots the quickest, often in just over a week in summer. Whilst these herbs will root at any time from cuttings, it’s usually best to take cuttings from these plants in spring and summer, when they are very actively growing. Pieces that are 2 to 3 inches in length are sufficient, stripping the lower leaves, otherwise these would rot, when below the soil surface. Dip them in a hormone rooting powder or liquid, as this speeds up rooting immensely, and then place around a third below the surface of a fine cutting and seedling potting mix – I sometimes add a little extra fine gravel, to open the mixture up a bit. You can add several shoots to a pot, and then enclose in a plastic bag, which retains moisture, preventing the shoots drying out, whilst they have no roots to uptake water from. If you can add something to raise the plastic off from the leaves, this stops them rotting. I open and aerate the bag
