Is internal budgeting linked to corporate and business planning?
Both the Department of Education and Training (from 2003-04) and the Department of Infrastructure have an annual planning and budget cycle in line with the government’s integrated management cycle1. Their business planning processes result in annual business plans at the departmental, office (at the Department of Education and Training) and divisional levels. These are linked to longer-term corporate plans. Business plans are complemented by staff performance plans, so that each staff member can see their contribution to the goals and objectives of the department and the delivery of its programs.
