Is initial discomfort when wearing an artificial limb usual?
Yes, you need to remember that your body was not designed to wear an artificial limb and therefore the additional weight, movement restrictions and rubbing will feel unusual. The friction cased by movement when wearing an artificial limb can case chaffing, which can be uncomfortable. If this becomes painful please inform your rehabilitation consultant who will be able to make the necessary adjustments to your artificial limb.
