Is India still under British rule?

0

India is a republic;a nationwide struggle for independence was launched by the Indian National Congress and other political organizations. Indian leader Mahatma Gandhi led millions of people in national campaigns of non-violent civil disobedience. On August 15, 1947, India gained independence from British rule. On January 20, 1950, India became a republic and a new constitution came into effect. India was once an independent monarchy, separate from the UK,and has regained its independence. But it does share some governmental styles;India considers itself a bicameral parliament operating under a Westminster-style parliamentary system. Changes are still taking place in the style of government, though.India has grown increasingly federal since the late 1990s as a result of political, economic and social changes.

as far as i know Britain has not had a role in India since 1948 and the era of Gandhi although India still belongs to the Commonwealth as they still compete in the Commonwealth Games.

Absolutely not they are strictly independent. The constitution, military and police rules are certainly patterned after the British model but that is only because Britain was there so long.
