The Government of Belize accredited IMU in August 2003. IMU is listed in the International Medical Education Directory (IMED), which is published by the Foundation for Advancement of International Medical Education and Research (FAIMER). IMU is recognized by the Educational Commission on Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), and students may sit for the USMLE. IMU will be listed in the next Directory published by the World Health Organization (WHO).
