The Federal Trade Commission reported in its report Consumer Fraud and Identity Theft Complaint Data January -December 2005 found their were 7,139 Identity Theft complaints in Michigan in 2005. However, the FTC believes this number to be low as their data shows some 61% of people do not report Identity Theft to the police.
