Provided that the margins in the final impression are in hydrocolloid of at least 2mm in thickness and the impression is poured immediately following removal, the impression should be as accurate as pure reversible hydrocolloid. Alginate is the weak link. If any margins are in alginate, the impression should be remade. Dimensional stability may be compromised if not poured right away.
