Is ice-skating dangerous?

As with most other sports, yes, it can be potentially dangerous. For me, the worst was falling straight down onto the ice one time and cracking my knee cap. I’ve fallen a zillion times on my knees but that time I guess I hit at the “wrong” spot. I’ve also gotten toepicked on the side of my knee by a friend who fell and kicked up. I’ve had tons of minor injuries. Things I have walked away from uninjured, but could have been worse are incidents like: colliding with other skaters – public or advanced skaters, tripping over holes/bumps in the ice, going on the ice forgetting to take my skate guards off (slip!), clicking blades while ice dancing with a partner (almost tripping) -lots more. But even though there are a lot of potential things that can happen, we take those risks and continue to skate. That can happen with anything you do in life – either be afraid of it, or face it.
