The name “Hyrule” is used to describe the entire planet, the continent, and the kingdom. Hyrule consists of the land featured in LoZ, AoL (North Hyrule), and ALttP/OoT. In Wind Waker, Hyrule is frequently referred to as a kingdom, and in ALttP, a similar description is given: “a land surrounded by mountains and forest.” There is a definite “King of Hyrule,” while the region SW of Hyrule is governed by a separate King of the Gerudo. Hyrule is only part of the world.
