Is hypnotherapy and hypnosis accepted by the medical community?
Yes. Hypnosis and hypnotherapy is being used more and more in hospitals, dental clinics and as a complementary form of treatment. The University of North Carolina uses hypnosis for IBS patients. The University of Washington’s regional burn center uses hypnosis for their burn victim’s pain management. As far back as 1958 the American Medical Association certified hypnosis as a legitimate treatment tool and in 1996 a National Institutes of Health panel ruled hypnosis as an effective intervention for alleviating pain and other chronic conditions.
