No. Hydra~Aid is specifically made to help improve hydration by providing a non-flavored, clear thickener and it has no dehydrating effect on the body or saliva. Hydra~Aid is supplied in “pre-hydrated” gel form in which all ingredients are dissolved in the water contained in the gel and, unlike powder thickeners, Hydra~Aid does not draw water from the beverage to which it is added. In fact, water from the gel is actually added to the beverage.
