Is Humanistic Judaism a religion?
There are a number of different definitions of religion. Most definitions of religion include a belief in a divine or superhuman power, or powers to be obeyed and worshiped as the creator and ruler of the universe. Webster’s New World Dictionary includes this definition: “any system of beliefs, practices, ethical values, etc. resembling, suggestive of, or likened to such a system (humanism).” Thus Humanistic Judaism can be defined as a religion.
