Is horseback riding an exercise?
Actually it doesn’t matter AT ALL how fast your horse is going if you know what you are doing. It really depends on what discipline that you are riding. A normal trail ride is not as much exercise as riding a 3 foot course or performing a 3rd level dressage test. In each of these disciplines, the horse is asked to collect, making it go slower. The speed of your ride has nothing to do with how many calories you burn, lazier horses are actually harder to ride because it takes more work to get anything out of them. Also, anyone can sit on a horse while it is running, but not everyone can do a posting trot.
