Is homosexuality prevalent in Muslim/Jewish society world-wide?
As has already been said different Muslim countries have differing views on homosexuality, some are very conservative such as Saudi Arabia others not as much such as Turkey. There is however a homosexual culture that historically been prevalent in Islamic cultures such as in Afghanistan where there was and still is a strong culture of male on male love as alot of British and American service men have found out. In India during the British Raj it was actually the British who first brought in laws against homosexuality or (sodomy) as it was generally accepted in Indian culture. Alot of UK Muslims fear coming out due to close family ties and rejection or the complete severance from the family. Then again things are changing slowly, there is a popular gay Muslim website and there has been an organised gay Muslim presence at the various Pride marches in the UK.
