Is homosexuality allowed or disallowed in Christianity ?

The United Church of Christ and some others are accepting of gays. I’m not a Christian but from my understanding the part about homosexuality is in the same part as the kosher laws, etc, that aren’t followed by Christians anymore.

Lev. 18:22, “You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.”1 Lev. 20:13, “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodlines is upon them” 1 Cor. 6:9-10, “Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” Rom. 1:26-28, “For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, 27and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error. 28And just as they d

Lev.18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination. Lev.20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. However I disagree with you as you seem to think homosexuality is wrong. I would say that the Bible is wrong and immoral to teach people to kill others based on sexual orientation. Maybe I read you wrong…I can only hope you are not this ignorant. The Bible also says to kill non believers and people who work on the Sabbath, so if you believe the Bible you would have to be an insane murderer.

It depends on which Christianity you are talking about. Some denominations take literally some Bible verses condemning homosexuality. Others are tolerant and they look at other Bible verses to support their view. This is the way of each Christian group. They look at the Bible and choose what they like and don’t like. If a particular verse supports their doctrinal beliefs then they interpret it literally. If a passage contradicts a cherished doctrinal belief or otherwise is embarrassing then it is interpreted as a metaphor or not to be taken literally. There is no “Christianity” as if it is a unified ideology, which is something you need to realize. A lot of stuff is subject to interpretation, and ultimately you need to draw the line somewhere. Everybody believes that they are drawing it in the right place, and obviously they can’t all be right.

Please don’t think of Christianity or protestantism as monolithic religion. In the U.S., the Metropolitan church was founded for, and has a primary membership from the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual community. Many of the fundamental sects (Baptists, pentacostal faiths) believe it to be unforgivable sin. Of mainstream religions, the Episcopal Church has been the most tolerant, confirming an openly gay Bishop. Most of the objection goes back to Leviticus (the book of Jewish law) 18:22 that is translated: “Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination” in the King James Bible. That same book has rules about selling a daughter into slavery, and stoning the unjust, so not all of it is adhered to today.
