Is Homemade carrot cake healthy?
It depends on what you mean by “healthy.” Most cakes are made with a lot of sugar and butter, and carrot cake is usually no exception. Surely there are recipes for low-sugar, low-fat carrot cakes, but not all homemade cakes will follow these recipes. In fact, a lot of carrot cake has a very unhealthy (but very tasty!) butter-and-sugar icing. Homemade carrot cake is generally made with real carrots, which means it’s healthier than a lot of other cakes, and certainly making something homemade means you know how much junk is in it (and you know there’s nothing processed or disgusting, and definitely no MSG). Just because it’s homemade, though, doesn’t make it healthy. It’s still cake.
