Is Home Schooling a Viable Alternative to Traditional Public Schooling?
An 11 page paper discussing arguments both for and against home schooling, concluding with an arrangement by which home-schoolers could continue their means of education while professional educators could be assured that the students are receiving adequate academic training. The situation by which students are required to log a specific number of school days annually and then are further required to pass achievement tests appropriate for their grade level should be oversight enough. Working in partnership with local school districts to make use of tax-supported facilities and programs allows the home-schooled to take advantage of public amenities that their parents support through their taxes, and also provides a means by which local school officials can quietly monitor academic progress.
