Is Holden Caulfield, the protagonist of the catcher in the Rye, misunderstood or psychotic?

I actually just finished reading The Catcher in the Rye this morning! I personally think Holden is just very misunderstood, not at all mentally ill. I feel the same way as you do, I also identify with how he is very suspicious and doesn’t trust anybody. I honestly didn’t read anything in the book that made me think he was mentally ill. I mean maybe a little depressed and down, but certainly not mentally ill. Just my two cents.
