Is history only important to pupils to develop critical thinking skills?

No, education in general is more important for developing critical thinking skills. History supplies the details on which to think but grammar and mathematics are better for teaching critical and logical thinking. SInce history, or least essays and discussions about them are so opinionated (subjective) history by itself actually lends itself to non critical thinking, that is biased and determined to make a point and win an argument, not to reach a neutral, closer to objective truth. This will certainly get your teacher’s attention, may not get you full points though.
