Is hiring a mrquee for a wedding reception cheaper than having it in a hotel etc..?
I had a marquee wedding reception and it was cheaper than having it in a hotel. We used my fiance’s parents back garden which fitted a nice big marquee (luckily) so we weren’t charged any rent for the land. The marquee company then supplied the tables, chairs and dancefloor and I organised all the catering equipment. We bought our own drinks and some friends of my fiance’s sister served the drinks and the food. We did look into a bar though and many local pubs will offer outside bar services – ask the marquee company as well. We also had portaloos which we hired separately. It had been raining right up to the day before the wedding, so the grass was a bit moist, but we asked the marquee company for a bit of extra coconut matting for a walkway from the patio to the entrance of the marquee – just in case the ground got soggy. There was always the patio for the ladies to stand on if the ground got too soft. Inside the marquee this wasn’t a problem as the ground was protected. It was a gre
