Is Hill Street prime location for new station?
By GORDON VINCENT news@woburnonline.com WOBURN – Two aldermen expressed reservations at Tuesday’s City Council meeting about approving a special permit for an A.L. Prime Energy gas station and office facility at the former Registry of Motor Vehicles site in East Woburn. “This is not what I would have envisioned as being a good fit along that Montvale (Avenue) corridor,” said Ward 3 Alderman Scott Galvin. “It seems to be overloaded with gas stations. I’d much prefer a restaurant, which would have much less of an impact.” Ward 5 Alderman Darlene Mercer-Bruen, whose district includes the former RMV site, said she “will keep an open mind” about the gas station proposal. “Traffic is a little bit tricky in that area,” said Mercer-Bruen. “I have some concerns about a gas station and a convenience store.” She added she would like to study the architectural drawings for the proposal and suggested the possibility of a peer review traffic study to confirm the petitioner’s claim Hill Street could
