Heron Cove is close to the town of Ellsworth, which offers Wal-Mart, chain grocery stores, restaurants, L.L.Bean, etc. Even closer is the postcard-perfect village of Blue Hilla popular vacation and retirement destination boasting a yacht club, cultural events, fine dining, and upscale shops alongside grocery and health food stores. Blue Hill and Ellsworth have hospitals, and Bangor (45 minutes away) offers the Eastern Maine Medical Center .
