Is hell here on earth?
Since Adam and Eve’s fall in the garden sin has been in the world corrupting the world. They were not the only sinners, but all of their descendents except He Who is the Son of God, Jesus Christ have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Because of sin, this world is condemned. One day God will destroy it and create a New Heaven and New Earth. All the things that you mention in your question are either results of sin’s corruption or God’s judgment of sin. Yet, even with all that we still see God’s glory and beauty and experience His grace. The beauty of a sunset, the majesty of a Forest, love, the joy of youth, good food, rest, pleasures of all sorts – in these we experience some of God’s blessing / a sort of taste of Heaven. So you could say in this world we have a taste of Heaven and a taste of Hell. I once stayed in a hospital room with a 17 year old girl and her parents for the last three days of her life as she died of cancer. At times I saw her suffer more excruciating pai
Although this is a very hard time for a lot of people in the world this is not hell. Earth and hell are two different places. Hell has been described as a place for those people who have rejected God and have not accepted Jesus as their savior. Phrases such as “war is hell” or “I’m going through hell right now” are used to describe how horrendous a situation can be. No matter how much someone is suffering on earth it could never add up to the eternal damnation of living an eternity away from God. If you are not a Christian and you hear of someone losing everything they own to a tornado or tsunami or man’s injustice to man such as the holocaust the best comparison to use is hell meaning the worst situation imaginable.
harder to handle. If the Holy Spirit is in you… you can have heaven on earth, but I swing between the 2 daily, being bipolar and having depression and health problems that keep me from being in society. People strive after material things and miss what is important in life and then when they almost understand they die, but in an afterlife they can use what they learned and they will learn a tremendous amount more. I don’t know that I am going to make it to heaven. The hell I have had on earth is too much to bare many times, I don’t know that I want it even worse for eternity also. I think each person has a different kind of hell on earth… some it is no food, some no house, some being poor, some mental health issues, some love issues, some parent issues etc. No one escapes from learning things about life the hard way by experience.
